Amanda Moody

Amanda Moody is known as a triple threat writer/actor/singer with a wide range of comedic and dramatic skills. “Serial Murderess,” her latest work, was developed with director Melissa Weaver, and enjoyed popular and critical success during its 2000/2001 extended run in San Francisco and again in 2002. Her six-character music theatre piece, “The Winchester Rosary”, was also created in collaboration with director Melissa Weaver, composed by Joël Lindheimer, produced by John Duykers and co-presented by Agapé Performance Group & The Paul Dresher Ensemble. Miss Moody has also performed principal roles in the San Francisco premieres of these original multidisciplinary operatic works: City Summer Opera's production of “Ariadne,” composed by Clark Suprynowicz, book by Ken Prestininzi, and directed by Tracy Ward; Agapé Performance Group's “Trespass Knot,” written and directed by Melissa Weaver with music by Miguel Frasconi and co-starring John Duykers; as well as the Paul Dresher Ensemble's “Awed Behavior,” written and directed by Rinde Eckert with music by Paul Dresher. An accomplished songwriter and studio artist, Miss Moody's work includes title songs for two feature films. She is a founding member of the improvisational music group, These Are Not My Hands. Miss Moody has written two libretti, one for the opera “Caliban Dreams,’ commissioned by the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, composed by Clark Suprynowicz and presented in concert at the Magic Theatre in 2003; the second for the oratorio “Bitter Harvest,” composed by Kurt Rhode, and which premiered at Zellerbach Hall in December 2005.  “Bitter Harvest” was commissioned and performed by the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Kent Nagano.  Miss Moody is currently working on a new multi-character solo work entitled, “D’Arc.”  Look for it in 2006.
